Brief Standoff With Alleged Suicidal Man Ends Peacefully, PUTNAM'S LANDING, February 16, 2016 - Sheriff Hammack reports that this morning (February 16, 2016) Deputies were involved in a short stand-off with an armed subject in the Putnam’s Landing subdivision.
 
On February 16, 2016, in the early morning hours Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to an intoxicated man with a pistol.  Reports indicated the subject was threating to harm himself with a pistol and had discharged the weapon inside the residence. 
 
When deputies arrived at the residence they were able to make verbal contact with the armed subject by telephone.  He warned the Deputies not to make entry into his residence and he would not be coming out.  Deputies maintained cover and called for assistance from other Deputies.  A short time later the subject identified as Darrell Ray Walker, 45, of Livingston, emerged from the residence where Deputies attempted to gain control of him.  Walker retreated towards the residence were Deputies deployed Tasers to gain control of him. 
 
Walker was placed under arrested and charged with Resisting Arrest.  Walker was transported to the Polk County Jail.  While in the Polk County Jail’s custody Walker will be subject to a mental health assessment where he can receive assistance if needed.
 
Deputies were involved in a dangerous standoff in Moscow just 1 day earlier.
