Livingston Firemen arrived at what used to be Cassity's Cafe' off North Washington in Downtown Livingston. Cassity's was a local favorite in Polk County for years before it closed down.
Fire Heavily Damages Old Cassity's Cafe' Building, LIVINGSTON, August 31, 2015 - At approximately 12:10 pm on August 31, 2015, a structure fire was reported to the Livingston Police Department.  Firemen from Livingston Volunteer Fire Department and Livingston Police Department were dispatched to North Washington to what used to be Cassity's Cafe'.  Heavy smoke was billowing from the building when firemen arrived.  Both sides of North Washington were blocked during emergency operations to put the fire out.  Preliminarily, the fire is believed to have started from a ventilator fan in the back upper part of the building.  The fan allegedly overheated.  The firemen appeared to have saved the building, but the building was heavily damaged.  Fortunately, nobody was injured in the incident.  For many years, Cassity's Cafe' was a Polk County favorite for their breakfast and lunch service.  The fire remains under investigation by City of Livingston Fire Marshal, Josh Mohler.

Special thank  you:  Ken with Ken's Towing

Officers Kevin Ward (left) and Chad Lilley had the south-bound lanes of North Washington blocked from traffic (the north-bound lanes were also blocked).
Firemen made an opening into the upper backside of the building to get to the area where there were flames.
