Another Fake Weed Bust, LIVINGSTON, March 23, 2011 - On the morning of March 21, 2011, Officer Kevin Ward with the Livingston Police Department received a tip about a phone number he could call to arrange to purchase K2 (aka, fake weed) in Livingston. Fake weed is illegal within the city limits of Livingston. At 1:26 that afternoon, Officer Ward had a sting operation in place and had arranged for a meeting with the alleged dealer of fake weed. The meeting took place in a parking lot located in the 1200 block North Washington in Livingston. Detective Leon Middleton met with the dealer who had a large load of the fake weed. The dealer, Adnan A. Motan, 30, of Livingston, reportedly lives with the owners of Livinston Z Mart (also known locally as Giavanni's). The management of Livingston Z-Mart has been in trouble with the law recently for selling fake weed. According to the Livingston Police Department, Adnan Motan had over 355 grams of the fake weed. A conservative estimate has the banned substance that was seized from Motan valued at $6,035. Motan was arrested without incident and was charged with violating City of Livingston ordinance. Motan was booked into Polk County Jail and also is facing a $750 fine (the fine can go as high as $2,000).
According to Livingston Police Department, there have been 3 different occasions where local teens have shown up at the emergency room of Livingston Memorial Hospital with serious physical problems as a result of smoking the fake weed.
