Bryant Sentenced to 25 Years, Immediately Appeals, LIVINGSTON, October 19, 2017 - This morning (10/19) District Judge, Ernie McClendon heard arguments from both the prosecution and the defense in the case of Jeffrey Andrew Bryant, 54, of Livingston. Bryant was attending the punishment phase of his trial for possession of child pornography, in which he was found guilty by a Polk County Jury one day earlier. After hearing both sides and both sides rested, Judge McClendon stated to Bryant that the images that were found on his cell phone were to be taken seriously by the state and promptly handed down a 25 year prison sentence. Prosecutor Kari Allen argued for life imprisonment given Bryant's criminal history in which he served time in the State of Alabama for armed robbery, and time in Texas for aggravated assault. Bryant has also served time in Polk County Jail for assault. Allen pointed out that in all the pictures, violence was being depicted showing what appeared to be sexual assault on others. On several occasions, during the hearing, both Bryant and his brother (both were called on to testify) were called down for becoming rowdy and speaking out of order.
At the conclusion of the hearing, Bryant immediately filed for an appeal. Judge McClendon appointed Bryant a lawyer for his appeal case.
