Fatal Auto/Pedestrian Accident on US-146, SOUTH POLK COUNTY, November 23, 2010 - At approximately 7:50 pm on November 22, 2010, driver Perry Douglas Hare, 24, of Livingston, was north-bound on US-146 near East Schwab Road when his blue 1991 Saturn struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian, Robert Lewis Coello, 23, of Ace was killed on impact. A nearby ambulance from Liberty County EMS happened upon the scene, treated Hare, then transported him to Livingston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. North Liberty County Volunteer Fire Department was also dispatched along with a deputy from Liberty County Sheriff's Department, Troopers from Liberty County, Deputy Dustin Lowrie from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Troopers Kevin Burman, Darwon Evans, and David Morris (all from Polk County). All traffic on 146 was blocked during investigation, recovery and cleanup. Justice of the Peace Darrell Longino performed an inquest at the scene. A first-call car from Cochran Funeral Home recovered Robert Coello. Perry Hare had insurance and no citations were issued. It is not known to PolkCountyToday.com why Coello was in the middle of US-146 when he was struck. Hare's vehicle was recovered by a friend who pulled it away from the scene. The scene was cleared shortly after 10 pm.
