A tree is partially uprooted after catching an 18 foot trailer carrying a 1989 Ford F-150.
Driver Pulling Trailer Loaded With Full Size Truck Rolls, EAST POLK COUNTY, November 12, 2011 - At approximately 2 pm on November 11, 2011, a blue 2002 Chevy Avalanche driven by Christopher James Smith, 23, of Jasper, was east-bound on US-190 East near the Polk County Line when he lost control of his vehicle. Smith was pulling an 18 ft. trailer with a 1989 Ford F-150 mounted in the trailer. The trailer allegedly began whipping out when Smith drover through a low spot on the pavement causing the trailer to slightly bounce and whipping out of control. Smith's vehicle left the road to the right down an embankment and rolled. The trailer (carrying the pickup) slammed into a tree partially uprooting the tree. Smith's Chevy Avalanche somehow ended up turned upright on top of the bottom side of the trailer (see pictures). Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Troopers Joe Cole, Sergeant Nita Bowen and Chris Stanbery. Amazingly, Christopher Smith emerged from his vehicle unharmed. Traffic was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. According to Trooper Joe Cole, Smith was cited for unsafe speed. A recovery crew from Jasper Towing & Recovery was summoned to clean up the mess.
