Juan Saenz drove his 2007 Chevy Silveraldo 2500 off the end of FM-1988 right into the woodline
Road Ends, Driver Keeps Going, Alcohol Suspected, LIVINGSTON, October 2, 2011 - At approximately 12:50 am on October 2, 2011, a green 2007 Chevy Silverado driven by Juan Saens, 50, of Houston, was east bound on FM-1988 East when he reached the end of 1988 (the point where you can only make a right or a left on US-146). Saens made neither a right nor a left on 146 and kept going straight, right into the weeds and was stuck. Deputy David Mitchell with the Polk County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the scene along with Americare Ambulance Service and Trooper Chris Stanbery with the Texas Highway Patrol. Saens sustained an injury on his head but stated that the injury was because prior to the accident, he was assaulted by a man who was high on cocaine. Saens opted to be transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital to have his injury checked out. There was a heavy smell of alcohol coming from Saens and he's facing the charge of driving while intoxicated. Saens has two prior DWIs and a third DWI would mean a felony charge. Traffic was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. A rollback wrecker from Fawbush Wrecker Service recovered Saens' truck and it will be stored in Goodrich. The scene was cleared by 1:55 am.
