A 12 year old boy was hospitalized from a rollover accident on Sunflower Road on August 4, 2013.
Rollover Accident in East Polk County, BIG SANDY, August 4, 2013 - At approximately 3 pm on August 4, 2013, a red 2002 Chevy Z71 driven by Blaine Tolar, 17, of Segno, was east-bound on Sunflower Road. Tolar was apparently driving too fast on the partially paved road and lost control causing the truck to flip. The pickup came to rest upside down facing west on the right side of sunflower road. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Alabama Coushatta and Segno volunteer fire departments, Deputy Terry Valka with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Trooper Kevin Burman with the Texas Highway Patrol. The cab of the pickup was mostly crushed but amazingly, all but one of the five vehicle occupants (a twelve year old boy) weren't injured. The child was treated at the scene and transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed (but non-life-threatening) injuries. The rural road was blocked during investigation and cleanup. At time of press, no citations have been issued as the accident remains under investigation by Trooper Burman. A rollback wrecker from LakeView Wrecker Service recovered the totaled truck and it will be stored at J&C Auto Body in Livingston.

Could've Been Much Worse: Tolar gets consoled by his mother.
The truck was turned upright and recovered by LakeView Wrecker Service.
Counting Blessings: With Tolar and 4 passengers in the truck, this accident could've easily been a fatal.
