Driver Rolls Pickup, Flown to Houston, Alcohol Suspected, BIG SANDY, June 13, 2013 - At approximately 7:06 pm on June 13, 2013, a blue 2002 Dodge 1500 pickup driven by Jessica Navarro, 28, of Livingston, was east-bound on Sunflower Road. Navarro apparently entered a curve too fast on the mostly unpaved road and left the pavement to the left then struck an embankment causing her vehicle to roll. The pickup came to rest upright on the left side of Sunflower Road. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Alabama Coushatta Volunteer Fire Department, Livingston VFD Heavy Rescue Unit, the Alabama Coushatta Police Department, Sergeant Lee Rogers with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Trooper Chad Seamans with the Texas Highway Patrol. Navarro's two passengers were able to crawl from the wreckage, but Navarro herself was trapped. Volunteer Firemen used the Jaws-of-Life cut the door and then the roof off of the pickup in order to safely remove her from the vehicle. Navarro sustained possible life threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to a nearby landing zone where she was loaded onto a PHi Air Medical Helicopter and flown to Hermann Hospital in Houston. Navarro's two passengers (Danny Davidson and Keith Stutts, both of Livingston) were transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. According to Trooper Seamans, Navarro is facing a citation for failure to control speed and could be facing more serious charges pending his investigation as she is suspected of being intoxicated. A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered Navarro's vehicle and it will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. The scene was cleared by around 9 pm.
