Trooper Kevin Burman with the Texas Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
Exotic Car Crash Takes Life of Local Chiropractor, LIVINGSTON, June 13, 2010 - At approximately 1:30 am on June 13, 2010, a passer by on US-190 West noticed a turned over car in a field near the Old Mill Center on the east-bound side of 190. A call was placed to the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department, multiple Units from the Livingston Police Department and the Sheriff's Office and DPS Troopers Kevin Burman, David Morris, and Sergeant Nita Bowen. Sadly, the EMS personnel were not needed as it was determined that the driver of the vehicle was deceased. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, evidence suggests that the car, a blue 2006 Ford GT, driven by Jay Workman, 44, of Livingston, was east-bound on US-190 West traveling at a high rate of speed when his vehicle left the road to the right, struck a culvert, and rolled end over end several times before coming to rest upside down in a field. Traffic on 190 was not blocked during investigation, recovery and cleanup. Jay Workman was a longtime local respected Chiropractor. Justice of the Peace David Johnson performed an inquest at the scene. Workman was the only person in the vehicle. Workman was loaded into a first call car from Cochran Funeral Home. A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered Workman's vehicle and it will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. The scene was cleared by 3:30 am.
This is the second fatal accident in the last 3 days. There was another fatal accident on FM-2457 on June 10.
