Fatal Accident on FM-2457, Car Crashes and Burns, LIVINGSTON, June 10, 2010 - According to a witness, at approximately 1:30 am on June 10, 2010, a green 1997 Dodge 2 door coupe (believed to be a Dodge Stratus), was west-bound on FM-2457 and attempted to pass another west-bound vehicle. When the driver of the Dodge veered left for the apparent pass, he kept going and left the roadway to the left, went down an embankment and slammed into a tree. The vehicle ignited from the collision and became fully involved. The Livingston Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene along with Deputies Vance Berry, Jamie Buie, and Darren Crow. Also dispatched was Americare Ambulance Service, and DPS Troopers Chris Stanbery and Sergeant Nita Bowen. Sadly, the ambulance was not needed as the driver of the vehicle was killed. The Livingston Fire Department put the fire out. The impact of the car hitting the tree left the car nearly cut in half. Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Darrell Longino arrived and performed and inquest. A first call car from Pace Funeral Home recovered the driver of the vehicle. Traffic on FM-2457 was partially blocked during investigation, recovery, and cleanup. A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered the vehicle and it will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston. Because of the severity of the fire, the driver of the vehicle has not yet been identified. Once the name is released we will post an update to this story. The scene was cleared by 4:20 am.
