Deputy Dustin Lowery (right) assisted EMS personnel with an injured 13 year old girl from Baytown. The girl was flown to Hermann Hospital in Houston.
Two 13 Year Old Girls Hospitalized From 4 Wheeler Accident, One Seriously, TAYLOR LAKE ESTATES, April 29, 2012 - Shortly before noon on April 29, 2012, a Green Honda Foreman 4 wheeler occupied by two 13 year old girls was traveling on Taylor Lake Road East near a road called Route 66.  The recreational vehicle was being driven by a girl from Baytown, the passenger from Winnie.  They apparently entered a curve too fast, lost control and were ejected.  One girl (from Baytown) reportedly hit a large tree.  The other girl seeing her friend was injured went to a nearby house and asked for help.  Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the South Polk County Volunteer Fire Department, Deputy Dustin Lowery and Sergeant Rob Thomas with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Joe Cole with the Texas Highway Patrol.  The girl from Winnie was transported to Livingston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  The girl from Baytown sustained very serious injuries and was treated at the scene, loaded onto an ambulance and transported to a landing zone on the lawn of Ace Baptist Church where a PHi Air Medical Helicopter received and flew her to Hermann Hospital in Houston.  According to Trooper Cole, no citations have been issued to the responsible guardian of the two young teens, but the accident remains under investigation.
