Livingston firemen douse a vehicle fire next to Melbo's convenience store.
Driver Causes Accident and Flees Scene, LIVINGSTON, March 4, 2013 - At approximately 12:20 pm on March 4, 2013, a 1988 Chrysler Lebarron was north-bound on Houston Avenue in Livingston. The driver attempted to turn left into the parking lot of Melbo's convenience store, but failed to yield to a north-bound maroon Toyota Avalon driven by Ali Faisal of Livingston. Faisal's vehicle struck the Chrysler and spun it around facing south. Faisal pulled into the parking lot of car wash next to Melbo's. The Chrysler caught fire. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department and Livingston Police Officers Kevin Ward and Sergeant Ronnie Bogany. According to witnesses, the driver of the car gathered some things from the car and fled the scene. Firemen arrived quickly and put out the car fire. Nobody was injured in the accident. Officers Ward and Bogany inventoried the Chrysler and found a .38 revolver in the front of the car and a .22 caliber assault rifle in the trunk. At time of press, Livingston Police are looking for the driver who fled the scene. According to witnesses, he's a white male that looks to be in his 20s, has short blonde hair, many tatoos on both arms, and tear drop tatoos on his face. The driver who fled the scene may be facing a list of charges. A rollback wrecker from Ken's Towing recovered the Chrysler and it will be stored at Harrison Body Shop in Livingston while Faisal's vehicle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston. The scene was cleared before 2 pm.
Ali Faisal pulled his vehicle into the parking lot of the car wash next to Melbo's. Faisal struck the older car when the older car failed to yield right-of-way from a left turn.

Sergeant Ronnie Bogany found .38 caliber pistol in the front of the older model car. The pistol was loaded (Bogany removed the bullets).
Officer Kevin Ward found a .22 caliber assault rifle that was wrapped in a sheet in the trunk. The rifle had a large magazine with bullets and a round in the chamber.
Both firearms were confiscated by Livingston PD.
