Driver Rolls 18 Wheeler on 146, SOUTH POLK COUNTY, January 12, 2011 - Shortly before 6 am on January 12, 2010, a white 2006 Mack Truck driven by Dennis Wayne Sharp, 53, of Beaumont, was east-bound on FM-2610. As Sharp approached the end of 2610 he apparently didn't realize he was about to run out of road and could only go right or left. Sharp's speed was too fast and he attempted to cut left onto US-146 and rolled his 18 wheeler. Sharp was hauling a large load of gravel that spilled into the grass. Americare Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Corporal Lee Rogers and Deputy Glen Edwards (both with the Polk County Sheriff's Office), the South Polk County Volunteer Fire Department, and DPS Trooper Darwon Evans. Dennis Sharp was treated at the scene by EMS Personnel and transported by ambulance to Ace Baptist Church where a PHi Air Medical helicopter landed and transported Sharp to Hermann Hospital in Houston with undisclosed injuries. Sharp will be cited for driving with invalid license and could be facing other citations. A heavy duty wrecker from Lufkin has been sent for to recover the 18 wheeler.
