Thanksgiving Hangover... NOVEMBER 29, 2019 - Well, it's that annual time when we wake up the next morning, sit at the kitchen table, drink coffee, and rehash the happenings of Thanksgiving. This year I cooked my turkey on the barbecue pit and smoked it with pecan wood. I love pecan wood for smoking meats. Nothing against hickory or mesquite, they're also great for cooking. I don't know about y'all, but for me, the day after Thanksgiving is like a cold bucket of water thrown on me to welcome me back to reality. The turkey is now cold, there's still lots of leftovers. I did have three martinis, and, my wife, Angel, is a little steamed at me for that. I think I passed out in the recliner after sometime of eating, drinking and merriment, and may have come across as rude. While I no longer watch the NFL or any football, I'm not rabid about it. Our guests turned on a game and that was fine. After company left, Angel went off to bed. I woke up later (in the recliner) and completely cleaned the kitchen. All the food is put away, all the pans are washed, all the dishes are washed, counters wiped and everything in order. When I get up in the morning, I think the clean kitchen will help me deal with the withdrawals of the fun we had the day before. Thanksgiving is such a great time in the USA. I think the youth need to realize how great we have it. Never in the history of our GREAT nation have we had so much to be thankful for. While we do have troops overseas in harm's way, we're not engaged in any major wars. Our economy is surging, we live in a time of peace and great prosperity, and in spite of what the leftist major media outlets say (ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, etc.) our country has a strong president who's actually keeping his promises and doing what's right for the USA. We live in a time when we need a strong man at the helm of our nation. Further, of all the nations in the world, the USA has the cleanest air. I'm certainly no environmentalist, but the lefties need to stop whining about how bad we are when we lead the world in environmental conservation. ...and GOOD NEWS! THE WORLD IS NOT ENDING IN 12 YEARS! Don't listen to these complete morons who are trying to scare the country into 90 percent taxation and lead us into bad times. Not only that, the USA is the most compassionate nation on the planet. We have freedom of speech and the right to bear arms to protect our home and family from ner do wells. Just about everyone has the internet and a smart phone. News and anything that can be looked up in an encyclopedia (complete with a plethora of pictures and video) are at our finger tips. Educational opportunities abound for young people. No matter who you are, no matter what color you are, no matter what age, as the brilliant thinker, Dinesh DeSouza says, YOU ARE THE ARCHITECT OF YOUR FUTURE IN THE USA. That, my friends, is A LOT to be thankful for. It's pushing 3 a.m. It's time for me to slip off to bed. When I wake up, I'll probably have a turkey sandwich. Hopefully, I'll be in Angel's good graces again. This cold bucket of water will be short lived. We are now fully plunged into Christmas season! (and I always look forward to the City of Livingston Christmas Parade). If you see a policeman or fireman or any emergency responder. Thank them.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!
