Wanda walks down the halls to her office on her second to last day working for the Sheriff's Office.
One of Polk County Sheriff's Office Favorites Set to Move On, LIVINGSTON, August 1, 2008 - One of the Polk County Sheriff's Office favorite workers has decided to move on after 7 1/2 years of service. Master Peace Officer and Warrant Officer Wanda G. Kirk has made the difficult decision to leave the Polk County Sheriff's Office for another career. Kirk is a 1981 graduate of the Houston Police Academy. After 10 years of service with H.P.D., Kirk served for nearly 10 years at North Harris College in Houston as a College Police. In 2001, Kirk received her Master Peace Officer's License and came to work for the Polk County Sheriff's Office as the warrants officer.
Wanda and her husband of 26 years, James.
Wanda and her family are avid Astros fans. One of her biggest complaints (as a fan) was when the Astros let Jeff Kent go. Kirk has been happily married to her husband (James Kirk) for 26 years. James has 30 years of experience in law enforcement. The Kirks have 2 children, Daughter Jessica (18), and son Kyle (15) who is active in 2 sports and plays both baseball and football. James and Wanda have nearly 60 years of law enforcement experience between them. Good Luck Wanda!...(and stay in touch).
"Wanda's been a fine worker and we hate to see her go." -- Sheriff Hammack
