Two Arrested for Felony Theft, SODA, March 11, 2012 - At 5:20 pm on March 10, 2012, Trooper Darwon Evans with the Texas Highway Patrol was patrolling on US-190 East when he spotted a suspicious vehicle off Williams Road. Evans pulled in to investigate. The vehicle belonged to Joe Brandon Roberts, 26, of Onalaska and Stephanie Denise Hocker, 19, also of Onalaska. Evans suspected foul play and called for backup. Corporal Terry White with the Polk County Sheriff's Office arrived and was joined by Deputy Glen Edwards. As Evans and White investigated it appeared that the two were stealing copper and had a large amount of copper in the back of their Chevy Blazer. Ultimately they confessed to the crime. Both were charged with felony theft and taken downtown and booked into Polk County Jail.

A large amount of stolen copper was found in the back of the suspects' vehicle.
