Name Released of Suicide Victim, LIVINGSTON, April 14, 2020 - The indentity of the man who died of an apparent intentional self inflicted gun shot wound has been released.  Local law enforcement were summoned to FM-1988 South and Business 59 (Across the street from Thomas Supply) to find 67 year old John Hobbs of Livingston sitting deceased beside his truck after having shot himself with a small caliber pistol early on Tuesday morning well before 7 am.  Mr. Hobbs reportedly had terminal health conditions.  The Polk County Sheriff's Office is continuing their investigation into the incident.

Business 59 at FM-1988 South

Public Suicide, Local Man Ends it All, LIVINGSTON, April 14, 2020 - Early this morning (before 7 am, 04/14/20), law enforcement officers with Livingston Police Department, Polk County Sheriff's Office, and The Texas Highway Patrol converged in a small area at Business 59 and FM-1988 South (across the road from Thomas Supply). A local man, discovered by truck drivers, was found sitting beside his white Chevy pickup dead from an apparent suicide (small caliber firearm). The area was taped off as investigators from the Sheriff's Office initiated an investigation. At time of press, the identification of the victim has not been released. Justice of the Peace, Dooley Johnson performed an inquest at the scene. The victim was transported from the scene by Cochran Funeral Home. When we receive more information on this incident we will post an update.

On May 8, 2015, a man was found deceased in his truck in this same area from an apparent suicide.
