Peggy Simmons, 62, of Livingston
Livingston Woman Charged with Murdering Her Brother, LEGGETT, December 22, 2021 -  At approximately 9:40 pm on December 6, 2021, detectives with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, responded to the home of 67 year old Aaron Earl Figgs, in the Leggett area of Polk County.

When detectives arrived, they discovered Mr. Figgs deceased, in his bed, with evidence of possible foul play found on scene. The deceased’s sister, Peggy Sue Simmons, was at the home with Mr. Figgs at the time of his death and she was interviewed by detectives while on scene.

The following morning, the detectives attended the autopsy of Mr. Figgs conducted by the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office, where it was determined that Mr. Figgs died from an injury sustained by an event which caused him to bleed to death.

On December 22, 2021, with sufficient probable cause, detectives obtained an arrest warrant, charging Peggy Sue Simmons, with Murder. Ms. Simmons was subsequently arrested at the Pardon and Parole Office in Huntsville TX, and then transported to the Walker County Jail. Additionally, Ms. Simmons was on parole for unrelated events and her parole was revoked at that time.

Sheriff Lyons would like to express his gratitude for the hard work and professionalism displayed by his Criminal Investigation Division, along with the Polk County District Attorney’s Office and the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office. Their hard work collectively brought justice for Mr. Aaron Earl Figgs and his family.
