2 Houston Men Drown in Lake Livingston, ONALASKA, September 3, 2021 - On Wednesday, September 1, 2021, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office assisted Texas Game Wardens in reference to a boating incident, near the Cedar Point Boat Ramp, in Livingston.
The reporting party advised that two boaters, from Houston, had gone into the water at approximately 7:00 pm and could not be found.
Emergency crews immediately responded to the scene and search efforts were initiated. After hours of searching, the bodies of Ruben Omar Berti, 62, and Luciano Rodriguez-Araujo 46, (both from Houston) were both located and recovered from the water.
This incident is being investigated by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and detectives do not suspect foul play at this time. The bodies of both victims were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office, in Beaumont for autopsies.
