Family Violence, One Man Dead from Single Gunshot, ONALASKA, July 22, 2024 - On Saturday July 20, 2024, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to 911 calls in the 3700 block of FM 3459 in Onalaska in reference to a family disturbance that resulted in one family member’s death.
When detectives arrived, they discovered Gerald Fields, 56, of Onalaska, deceased at the scene. Witnesses reported that a disturbance occurred between two family members, resulting in one dying from a single gunshot.
Sheriff’s Office Detectives, along with the assistance of the Onalaska Police Department and Texas Rangers Office, processed the crime scene and conducted interviews.
Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Judge Sarah Rasberry, issued an order for an autopsy to be performed by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office in Houston.
