West Virginia Woman Found Deceased from Gunshot, WILSON LAKE ESTATES, June 17, 2024 - On the evening of Saturday June 15, 2024, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office received 911 calls of a shooting in the 500 block of Wilson Lake Estates Rd. in Polk County. Detectives responded to the scene along with EMS and Segno Fire Department. Detectives discovered a deceased female identified as 38-year-old Jillian Rasnick of West Virginia who was treated on scene by EMS and pronounced deceased due to a gunshot wound. During the investigation it was learned that a verbal altercation occurred between the victim and homeowner leading to the shooting incident. Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Terri Mayer assisted conducting an inquest ordering an autopsy be performed by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office. Currently the investigation is being conducted by detectives with the Sheriff’s Office along with the assistance of the Polk County District Attorney’s Office, Texas Rangers Office and the Harris County Medical Examiners Office. Sheriff Lyons advises that there is no threat to the public in the Wilson Lake Estates area and the matter is being investigated by multiple agencies with additional information to be released when additional evidence arises.
