Identities of Couple Involved in Fatal Domestic Dispute Released, INDIAN SPRINGS, May 4, 2019 - Polk County Sheriff's Office, Chief Deputy, Byron Lyons, stated that the next of kin have been notified from the May 31, 2019, aggravated assault and suicide. The incident which took place in the 200 Block of Barbara Trails in the Indian Springs Subdivision left 60 year, Carol Diane Huckaby deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. 67 year old victim Leslie Boyd Huckaby, remains in a Conroe Hospital in ICU from a gunshot wound to his lower abdomen. Leslie Huckaby was able to identify his wife Carol Huckaby, as the person whom shot him.

One Dead After Alleged Husband and Wife Gun Confrontation, INDIAN SPRINGS, June 1, 2019 - At approximately 1:37 pm on May 31, 2019, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a residence in the Indian Springs Subdivision. The caller stated that their neighbor had come over and said his wife had shot him with a pistol. Deputies responded to the 200 block, of Barbara Trails, where a 67-year-old White Male, was found being treated by Indian Springs Volunteer Fire Department and Americare EMS, for a gunshot wound to the abdomen. According to Chief Deputy, Byron Lyons, the Victim informed Deputies that his wife had shot him in the stomach with a pistol. The Victim was able to give Officers information as to where he had last seen his wife, and a description of her clothing and the fire arm she had used. Chief Lyons stated that deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office were assisted by DPS Troopers and Officers from the Alabama Coushatta Indian Reservation Police Department. A perimeter was established around the residence. Deputies attempted making contact with the suspect by phone and by using a loud speaker from a patrol vehicle. Deputies were un-successful in making contact with anyone inside the residence. Deputies entered the residence through a front door and found the 60-year-old female suspect inside, deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Justice of the Peace, Darrell Longino performed the inquest at the scene and ordered the body be transported to the Jefferson County Medical Examiners. According to Lyons, the man who had suffered a gunshot to the abdomen was transported to Conroe Regional Medical Center by ambulance. The names of the couple have not yet been released to PolkCountyToday.com. At time of press, the man remains in Conroe.
