UPDATE: Shooter Turns Himself In, LIVINGSTON, May 19, 2011 - According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Norberto Oropeza Villa, 18, of Goodrich, turned himself in to the Polk County Sheriff's Office on the afternoon of May 18, 2011. Additionally, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Office stated that Villa has confessed to shooting Darius Doyle on May 15th, 2011.

Search is On for Suspect Who Shot Man
Man Shot in Goodrich, GOODRICH, May 17, 2011 - At approximately 6:37 pm on May 15, 2011 and 911 call was placed to the Polk County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center in reference to a gunshot incident. The caller stated that a man in the subdivision of Hoot Owl Hollow had been shot. The caller requested an ambulance and law enforcement.
The gunshot victim was identified as Darius Doyle who was now being driven to the hospital by friends. The dispatched ambulance (now enroute) intercepted the car on US-59 and stopped them in the parking lot of Lone Star Charlie's Restaurant. EMS Personnel loaded Doyle onto their ambulance and proceeded to Livingston Memorial Hospital where he was then transported by helicopter Hermann Hospital in Houston.
According to witness statements, Darius Doyle went to the suspect's residence to see about a title to a car. Doyle then left the residence and returned later for a wallet. It was alleged that Doyle was then leaving the yard when the suspect, identified as Norberto Oropeza Villa, 18, shot Doyle in the leg with a shotgun. Norberto Oropeza Villa fled the scene before deputies arrived.
An arrest warrant has been issued charging Norberto Oropeza Villa with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
