Fugitive Who Evaded Police Captured in Moscow, MOSCOW, March 12, 2024 - On Friday, March 8, 2024, the Livingston Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle stolen out of Houston. The driver refused to stop and soon found himself being pursued by multiple agencies, including the Polk County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The driver, traveling at high speeds, turned onto Loop 116 and drove through a gate and back into a pasture before jumping from the moving vehicle and fleeing on foot into the woods.
Tracking dogs were called out from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to aid in the search. At dark, units were still staged in the area, patrolling through the night for any sight of the fleeing felon.
On Saturday afternoon, the Sheriff's Office received a tip in reference to a possible sighting of the suspect near the vicinity Moscow.
Units from the Sheriff's Office, Livingston Police Department, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife traveled to the area and staged, while plain clothed officers from the Polk County Sheriff's Office searched the area. The suspect, identified by officers as Brian Joseph Brown, 44, of Point Blank, was located in a wooded area near the Valero, where he was taken into custody without incident.
As no surprise to law enforcement, the fleeing felon had warrants out of several agencies.
1. Burglary of a Building (Harris Co.) 2. Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) (Harris Co.) 3. Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle (Harris Co.) 4. Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle (Liberty Co.)
Additional charges of Evading Arrest/Detention w/ Vehicle and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, were filed on Brian Brown, by the Livingston Police Department.
