Man Robs Store and is Quickly Caught, INDIAN SPRINGS, February 27, 2020 - At approximately 6:13 am on February 26, 2020, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the “Right Stop” store located at the entrance of Indian Springs. The caller stated an unknown (possibly white male) person entered the store with a mask and gloves on and brandished what appeared to be a pistol and machete and demanded money. The suspect then left with an undisclosed amount of cash. Deputies and detectives arrived on scene and immediately started searching the area for the suspect based on the description provided by the store clerk. Detectives viewed the surveillance video and got a better description of the suspect and possible direction of travel when. The suspect was wearing a tan jacket, blue jean pants and what appeared to be a camouflage hat and face mask. A citizen passing by stopped and asked deputies if they were looking for someone. The citizen informed deputies that just east of Indian Springs she noticed a male subject in the woods. She stated that he was wearing brown/tan jacket. Deputies immediately went to the area and noticed a white male at the edge of the woods that fit the description of the robbery suspect. The suspect noticed the officers and attempted to flee on foot. After a brief foot chase the suspect was arrested and was still in possession of the weapon, face mask, and the cash taken from the store. The suspect was identified as 27-year-old David Shane Acosta of Magnolia. Acosta was transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office where he confessed to the crime. Acosta is currently in the Polk County Jail on a $100,000.00 bond set by Justice of the Peace Jamie Richardson.
