Coin Robber Unexpectedly Cashes in for Jail Time, LIVINGSTON, June 10, 2011 - On June 9, 2011 the Robbery of a rare coin dealer was reported to the Polk County Sheriff's Office. The suspect posed as a legitimate customer and when the coins were presented, the suspect indicated to the victim he had a gun. The suspect fled on foot, taking the victims coins and cell phone. The Polk County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division immediately began working on the case. On the morning of June 10, 2011 the suspect was apprehended by the San Jacinto County Sheriff's Office when he attempted to exchange the coins at the First State Bank in Shepherd. The Polk County Sheriff's Office took custody of 36 year old George Earl Owens of Livingston and charged him with robbery. Most of the stolen coins were recovered.
