Woman Shoplifts, Man Gets Arrested on Warrant, LIVINGSTON, April 26, 2011 - At around 10:20 am on April 26, 2011, Livingston Police Officer Caleb Barker was dispatched to Dollar General Store in Livingston (located next to Brookshire Bros.) regarding an alleged shoplifter.  Upon arrival Officer Barker Spoke with the manager of Dollar General and was told that he (the manager) observed a suspicious woman in his store possibly shoplifting.  An alert cashier first noticed her.  The woman was observed leaving the store with merchandise that had not net been paid for.  The woman then unloaded the merchandise into a green Ford sedan in the parking lot and walked to Brookshire Bros.  The Dollar General manager stepped outside and observed the woman allegedly sneaking out of Brookshire Bros. with more unpaid for goods.  The manager used his cell phone to call Livingston Police.  Office Barker was dispatched to the scene.  He was informed that the woman also unloaded the merchandise from Brookshire Bros. into her car and fled behind neighboring Check 'n Go.  By now Officer Barker was joined by several other police officers including Sergeant Ronnie Bogany, Kevin Ward, and Chad Ward.  A search of the area proved to be fruitless as the woman seemed to have gotten away.

A man approached the vehicle and was questioned by Officer Barker.  When Barker ran the man's license, dispatch radioed back that the man had a warrant out for his arrest.  The man was placed under arrest and taken to Polk County Jail to be booked in.  A search of the vehicle uncovered the merchandise that was allegedly stolen from Dollar General and Brookshire Bros. (mostly meat products and personal hygiene products.  See pictures below).  Both stores got their merchandise back.  The vehicle was towed by Fawbush Body Shop where it will be stored.  We will post updates on this story when new details emerge.
