Sheriff's Office Issues Press Release on December 8th Shooting, LIVINGSTON, December 10, 2021 - The Polk County Sheriff's Office issued a press release in refrence to a shooting that took place in the 10200 block of US-190 West. I person was killed, in a self/property defense situation. The following is a press release from the Polk County Sheriff's Office:
In the early morning hours of December 8, 2021, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting in the 10200 block of US Hwy 190 West in Livingston Texas.
Deputies and detectives arrived and located the property owner and a deceased male subject on the property.
Polk County Sheriff’s Office detectives spent most of the day processing the scene to determine what had occurred between the property owner and the deceased.
The deceased, 37 year old Joshua Read, of Houston, Texas, was fatally shot by property owner. The property owner confronted three subjects who was burglarizing his business and during the confrontation one of the suspects was shot, and two remained at large. The only description of the two subjects who fled the scene was one was possibly Hispanic and the other was wearing a white jacket.
At this time, details of the incident still remain under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

Shooting Leaves 1 Dead, SPRING CREEK, December 8, 2021 - At around 6:40 am on December 8, 2021, Detectives, Deputies, from the Polk County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to 10200 block of US-190 West (next to A-Action Realty) in reference to a shooting. The deputies were also joined by State Troopers. At the scene was one dead male next to a white Ford Pickup. According to radio dispatch, the shooter was protecting his property. Sheriff Byron Lyons was at the scene and spoke with PolkCountyToday.com confirming the above information. At time of press, that's all the information that we have.
