Suspect Arrested in Shooting Death on Big Man Road, SEVEN OAKS, November 10, 2023 - Polk County Sheriff Office detectives have made an arrest in the shooting death of LaDarion Tyrell Sykes, age 27, of Livingston. On November 7, 2023, at approximately 12:20 PM, a 911 call was received in reference to a shooting on Big Man Road, located North of Leggett. Officers from the Sheriff’s Office and Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene finding LaDarion Sykes unresponsive, due to several gunshot wounds. Life saving measures were administered pending the arrival of EMS Medical Personnel. Sykes was transported by EMS to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Officers on scene received information identifying the shooter as 18-year-old Donal LaPaul Hogan, a resident of Big Man Road. A firearm believed to be used by the shooter was discovered at the scene. Witnesses were interviewed who gave information that Donal Hogan made statements that he was the person who shot LaDarion Sykes. Donal Hogan was transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, where he was interviewed and subsequently arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail, for the Murder of LaDarion Sykes. Justice of the Peace Precent 1 Terri Mayer set bond at $750,000. Sheriff Lyons is asking anyone with knowledge of the incident or anyone who may have witnessed the shooting incident to contact Lieutenant Craig Finegan, at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, at 936-327-6810.

Alleged Shooting, SEVEN OAKS, November 7, 2023 - There's allegedly been an early afternoon shooting at a residence off of Big Man Road. Vehicles from the Polk County Sheriff's Office arrived on the scene and the area is taped off. Word on the street is that there's a fatality in this incident. That's all the information that we have at this time.
