Del Ray Sanders Gets Life in TDC, LIVINGSTON, January 15, 2010 - Shortly before noon on January 15, 2010, Del Ray Sanders was sentenced by a jury to life in prison in the Texas Department of Corrections and was fined $10,000. Sanders, 50, will not be eligible for parole for at least 30 years. After the sentencing, family members of Linnie Jo Sanders were allowed to publicly express their thoughts towards Del Ray Sanders. The mother of Linnie Jo stated to Del Ray "We take comfort in the fact that you will never touch our family again...NEVER". (The "Never" comment came across as a reference to the note that Del Ray Sanders sent to Linnie's mother in which he stated that she "...would never know what happened to Linnie...never".
Sanders made his own statements at the conclusion stating to the jury "I want to thank you for giving me life". Then he abruptly stated to District Attorney Lee Hon "Mr. Hon, I want to congratulate you on doing a fine job", Hon said Thank you in return.
Afterwards, Del Ray Sanders was cuffed and taken to prison where he'll likely spend his remaining days.
