Tyler County Youth Flees Home, Wrecks Van and Evades Arrest, LEGGETT, May 25, 2008 - A Tyler County youth who was having behavioral problems at home, took his parents' van and ran away. At Approximately 8:30 pm on May 25, 2008 the incident was reported to local law enforcement in Tyler County. The mother of the youth said he was at home breaking things and showing signs of violent behavior. The youth's name is Daniel Anderson, 16, of Tyler County. Anderson took his parents' van without permission (unauthorized use of a vehicle) and fled home. Deputies from Tyler County attempted to pull Anderson over but he refused and a high speed pursuit was on. Anderson crossed over into Polk County via Highway 942 headed in the direction of Leggett. Several Polk County Sheriff's Deputies and DPS Troopers Donny Akers and Ramey Bass were at the scene of the wrecked van, as well as Polk County District Attorney Lee Hon. Anderson wrecked the van about six miles east of Highway 59 in a ditch and got out and fled on foot into the woods on the north side of 942. At time of press, Anderson has not yet been located although law enforcement is searching. The van was towed away from the scene by LakeView Wrecker Service.
