Ground Broken on Polk County College, LIVINGSTON, March 6, 2012 - At 10 am on March 6, 2012, a ceremony was held on what is to be the campus of Polk County College - Commerce Center. County Judge, John Thompson, headed up the ceremony and was joined by State Senator, Robert Nichols, State Representative John Otto, Angelina College President, Dr. Larry Phillips and Miss Polk County, Brooke Haynes. "For years to come, this facility will help both the young and the old turn dreams into reality" Thompson stated to the crowd which consisted Polk County Chamber of Commerce Representatives, people who donated money to help the project, and guests. To date, funds raised total over nine and a half million dollars. Once construction begins in earnest, the project is projected to take around 15 months to complete.
