Former Onalaska Coach/Teacher Arrested for Indecency With Child, ONALASKA, May 12, 2008 - A former Onalaska high school girls athletic coach and teacher has bonded out of jail after being arrested and charged with several counts of indecency with a child.
Jimmy Lee Taylor, 56, was arrested on Thursday and charged with three counts of indecency with a child, and two misdemeanor counts of simple assault of a child.
The Onalaska police dept received a call in March, and had enough evidence to arrest Taylor on Thursday. The Onalaska police chief said Taylor is accused of touching five girls in his athletics class inappropriately.
Taylor coached 7th through 11th grade girls athletics and taught geography and health. A student told her parents who called the school district.
The Onalaska police department is investigating why an internal investigation began in November at the school, but authorities were never notified until March. The case has been turned over to the district attorney's office.
Taylor had reportedly resigned to retire on March 5th. He was placed on paid administrative leave back in February.
