2 HOUR NIGHTMARE

Polk County Game Warden, David Johnson, searches the wood near Kayla's home in the subdivision of Crystal Lake.
8 Year Old Girl Missing for 2 Hours in Woods, CRYSTAL LAKE, October 11, 2015 - Shortly after 5 pm, Ann Snook of Crystal Lake, looked around and found that her granddaughter was not around.  She talked to other kids in the area and the last place she was seen was in the back yard with two puppies.  Kayla was nowhere to be seen.  As fear set in, a call was placed to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.  Sergeant Glen Edwards with the Polk County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to Snook's residence off Carolyn road in Crystal Lake Subdivision.  In less than 30 minutes law enforcement including sheriff's deputies, Game Warden, David Johnson, state troopers, volunteer firemen, and neighbors in the vicinity were combing the area calling out Kayla's name.  After a short while the Sheriff's Office summoned blood hounds from the Texas Department of Corrections.  Soon, Polk County Sheriff, Ken Hammack was on the scene along with more deputies and more volunteers.  Darkness was setting in and time was getting critical.  As the nightmare stretched to over two hours, Ann received the phone call at 7:30 pm (a call that she had been literally desperate to receive).  A volunteer had found Kayla in the woods near a creek a good distance from home.  Kayla was okay.  She was returned to the scene amidst a joyful reunion with Ann and others.  She was checked out by EMS personnel from Americare Ambulance Service and was okay.

Volunteers from Crystal lake comb the woods near Carolyn drive as daylight was quickly vanishing.
