After Being Closed for Several Months for Re-Construction, Fanchise Owner Lou Britt Cuts the Ribbon Amidst Much Fanfare.
Franchise owner Lou Britt (kneeling) was quick to heap praise on employees, managers, and associates for this McDonalds.
At 10:00 am on May 4, 2010, Livingston McDonald's (located off US-59 South bypass in Livingston) re-opened with the ceremonial ribbon cutting. Franchise owner Lou Britt was glowing with excitement and poured out thanks to his many supporters, associates, managers and employees. Surrounded by friends and supporters, Britt gave a brief speech and then did the ceremonial ribbon cutting. This time, however, Britt broke from tradition of using a Chamber of Commerce yellow ribbon and produced his own ribbon that was made of real $50 bills taped together (totaled $1,000) and cut...CAREFULLY...making sure not to cut a $50 bill in half. The money was then promptly handed over and donated to the Polk County Higher Education fund and will go towards the proposed college that is to be built off of US-59 in Livingston. After the ceremony, McDonald's opened its doors for business just minutes afterwards as people lined up to order breakfast and anything else on the menu. The new McDonald's will have extended hours and will be open 24/7 for the drive through, while the dining room will stay open until 11 pm Monday - Thursday, and 12 am on Friday and Saturday.
