Alleged Child Rapist Dies from Self Inflicted Gunshot, LIVINGSTON, October 30, 2020 - On October 29, 2020 at approximately 4:51 pm the Livingston Police Department responded to a residence at the Pine Hill Apartments located at 1025 West Church Street to serve a felony arrest warrant on a suspect identified as Gerald Thomas Ring, 37, of Livingston, for the offense of aggravated sexual assault of a child. Upon arrival, Officers met and spoke with the registered tenant of the residence who is identified as Diana Davis, who lives with her son identified as Gerald Ring. The Officers located a white male in a bedroom who was positively identified as Gerald Ring. The Officers advised Ring that he had a felony warrant for his arrest. When Officers went to place Ring into custody, Ring produced a handgun from his left hand. Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation with Ring, to put the weapon down and Ring ignored their commands. Ring then fired one shot from the weapon striking his himself and was later pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace, Robert "Dooley" Johnson due to a self inflicted gun shot wound. There were no further injuries during the incident.  Ring’s body was taken to Beaumont for a full autopsy. This incident remains under investigation by the Livingston Police Department.
