2 Arrested for Trying to Pass Counterfeit Currency, LIVINGSTON, April 16, 2014 - On April 15, 2014 at approximately 11:45p.m., the Livingston Police Department was dispatched to Wal-Mart located at 1620 West Church Street in reference to an assault that had previously occurred. While investigating the offense Officers were approached by an employee of Taco Bell. The Taco Bell employee advised two subjects in a silver colored Toyota were in the drive through line and attempted to pay for their meal with a counterfeit 20 dollar bill.  The employee advised the Officers (Sergeant Chad Ward, Adam Williford, and Jason Thomas) that he had followed the vehicle when it left Taco Bell and pointed it out to the Officers (sitting in the Wal-Mart parking lot).

Officers approached the vehicle and identified the driver as Julie Annette Kawazoe, 39, of Livingston and passenger James Brian Hartin,33, also of Livingston. After further investigation it was determined the same counterfeit 20 dollar bill was used to purchase meals at McDonalds, Jack In The Box and Wal-Mart.

Julie Annette Kawazoe and James Brian Hartin were arrested for Forgery (a felony) and are being held in the Polk County Jail awaiting bond.
