Frank Andrew Dolezal, 62, of Livingston
Man Allegedly Assaults Neighbors with Machete, LIVINGSTON, February 8, 2017 - On Tuesday,  February 6, 2018 at approximately 6:30 P.M., Livingston Police Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Liberty Avenue in reference to an assault in progress. While Officers were en-route Livingston Police Department dispatch received information identifying the suspect as a white male (later identified as Frank Andrew Dolezal, 62, of Livingston) with a machete. When the first officer arrived, he observed  Dolezal walking in the middle of Liberty Avenue and he appeared to be severely bleeding. Officers further observed a second subject in a wheelchair who was yelling that  Dolezal had tried to kill him with a machete.  Dolezal continued walking toward the officer and was holding unknown objects in his hands. The officer repeatedly ordered Dolezal to stop and comply with his commands but Dolezal refused.  The officer then deployed his taser which had little effect on Dolezal. Additional  officers arrived on the scene and were able to gain control of Dolezal without injury to themselves or Dolezal. Officers confirmed that Dolezal was indeed injured from the earlier incident that had occurred before officers arrived on the scene. Dolezal had a large laceration on his left arm and was losing a large amount of blood. Officers then administered first aid and applied a tourniquet on the upper left arm to control the bleeding. Officers identified additional injuries and continued first aid applying pressure until EMS arrived.  Americare Ambulance Service arrived and advised the first aid provided by Livingston Police Officers possibly saved Dolezal’s life.

During the investigation it was determined Frank Andrew Dolezal approached homeowners on Liberty Avenue with the machete. Witnesses stated that Dolezal attempted to strike the homeowners several times with the machete. Officers received information from two neighbors that observed Dolezal swinging the machete at the homeowners and went to provide assistance. When the neighbors were attempting to speak to Dolezal he turned his aggression towards them and attacked them with the machete. The neighbors were able to defend themselves and take the machete away from Dolezal and in doing so caused the laceration under Dolezal left arm.

Frank Andrew Dolezal was transported to Livingston CHI St. Lukes where he was treated and later released. Dolezal was placed under arrest and transported to Polk County Jail.  He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (felony), resisting arrest and received a criminal trespass warning.

Frank Andrew Dolezal  remains in Polk County Jail pending bond.
