Livingston Youth Football Association Gets Proactive on Future of League, LIVINGSTON, October 29, 2013 - The Livingston Youth Football Association has a new beginning. With a whole new staff, board of directors, the support of local businesses, and Livingston City Council, the group broke ground on Monday afternoon (October 28, 2013) for new facilities and a place to call their own. Director of Operations, Brett Bradford, was excited and seems to be just the man to lead this organization into the future. The ground breaking ceremony (held at Pedigo Park) was attended by Bradford and the officers that make up the staff of LYFA, members from Livingston City Council and other city officials, and a lot of kids and parents excited about the new beginning. "We've joined a new alliance so that we'll be playing with Cleveland, Splendora, East Montgomery County, Anuhuac, and Tarkington" Bradford said, "It expands the competition so that you're not playing the same two or three teams over and over again" he said. "One of the biggest needs was facilities in which to play", "Our goal right now is to have it playable by next year, so we're working primarily on the playing surface and some bleachers". "Playing on a shoestring and borrowing facilities...it's easy for the whole thing to fall apart..." he said. "The whole point is to build for the future, to make sure that these kids have a league tomorrow". Indeed, the association is in the process of building two regulation size football fields at Pedigo Park. Their first focus is on the playing surface so that the kids have a place to play. "We're gonna have bleachers, and some modular buildings for concession stands and restrooms". The whole thing sounds pretty exciting. With the support of Local Businesses (like Hendrix Machinery who'll provide heavy construction equipment), and the support of the City of Livingston, Bradford's vision seems to be an inevitable reality.
