Meet the 2011 Livingston Lions Varsity Football Team, LIVINGSTON, August 13, 2011 - On another hot sticky August morning, Head Coach Randy Rowe and his staff unveiled the 2011 Livingston Lions Varsity Football Team. This year the Lions will be missing the likes of Linebacker Blake Burman and Defensive End Ryan McClain, but Coach Rowe knows how to get the best out of his men. Just as the Lions made the playoffs without Dustin Harris and Keaton Parker, so will the 2011 Livingston Lions go forward with great expectations which includes winning their district. The 2011 Lions will feature 24 Seniors and the return of second year Quarterback, Junior, Chevoski Collins. Collins will still have the services Senior Receiver Cassity Land who has shown talent both as a receiver, and a corner. The Lions' strength is their running game. With Collins and a stable of solid running backs including Antonio White, Devonte Mays and Devon Barnes they will be tough for opposing defenses to stop, especially with Collins' ability to scramble and his flat out speed. The offensive line will be anchored by Seniors Dakerrian Wyatt and Cole Galloway. On defense, the Cornerbacks will have their work cut out as the Lions' district opponents aren't afraid to pass. In 2010, Lion opponents enjoyed success passing against the Lions while opponents also had to endure a punishing Lion ground game. Defensive End Kade Burman has excellent height and long arms and might be a problem for opposing offenses. Burman also plays Tight End on offense and will be counted on for blocking and could become a threat for short to medium range passes. The Lions will open up regular season at home against the Jasper Bulldogs on September 2 at Lion Stadium.
My prediction for the 2011 Lions: I believe the Lions ground attack will carry this team to be the District Champs provided the defense and special teams hold up. Whether you agree or disagree with anything Head Coach Randy Rowe does, Coach Rowe knows how to get his team up for a game. The team typically becomes a reflection of Rowe's fiery personality. I also believe the Lions will win the first round of the playoffs. After that, we'll have to wait and see. - Editor
