Lions Beaten Badly by Central, BEAUMONT, October 30, 2016 - The Livingston Lions traveled to Beaumont on Friday night (10/28/16) and were beaten by the Central Jaguars... badly. The word I was hearing leading up to this game was that the Jags were a beatable team for the Lions. At first, they certainly did seem beatable. While the Jags never trailed in the game, the Lions kept the game close which was encouraging. By halftime the score was Jags 14, Lions 7. When the teams came out for the second half it appears that it was the Jags who made whatever adjustments were needed. Ultimately, what killed the Lions in this game was the Jags' relentless running game. The Jags mostly ran the ball and would occasionally pass. The Jag defense was respectable. The Lions scored a couple of late touchdowns late in the game, but it was too little too late and purely cosmetic (made an ugly game for the Lions look less ugly... I guess). The final score was Jaguars 50, Lions 21. Next game will be in the Lions Den on Friday night against Beaumont Ozen. After this loss, it's doubtful that the Lions will be playing in the post season.
