Cornerback Jaquavious Nix breaks up a Silsbee pass in the first quarter.
Lions Fall to Silsbee Tigers, LIVINGSTON, September 14, 2014 - The Livingston Lions fell to the Silsbee Tigers in the Lion's Den on Friday night in a game where the Lion defense was exploited by the Tigers in the first half.  While the Lions had some good plays, collectively, the Lions just didn't have a great game on either side of the ball.  Credit to the Silsbee Tigers, they're a good physical hard playing team and simply outplayed our Lions.  The Tigers were able to overcome their own mistakes (like turning over the ball multiple times) and still beat the Lions.

SCORING SUMMARY

Second Quarter

5:43 - Tigers 8 yard TD pass with PAT, Tigers 7, Lions 0

4:49 - Kurt Wilson 56 yard TD run on QB keeper with PAT game tied at 7

3:34 - Tigers 5 yard TD run with PAT Tigers 14, Lions 7

1:33 - Tigers 17 yard TD pass with PAT Tigers 21, Lions 7

Fourth Quarter

3:00 tiger long TD run missed PAT Tigers 27, Lions 7

2:03 Lions TD Pass to BJ Mottu, PAT blocked

FINAL SCORE:  TIGERS 27, LIONS 13

The Lions defense tightened up some in the second half, but the Tigers were just more physical than the Lions.  Quarterback Kurt Wilson was intercepted twice and the Lions fumbled away the ball at least once.  Wilson also had a 56 yard TD run on a quarterback keeper.  At the conclusion of the game, Head Coach, Brian Broussard didn't speak kindly to his men and addressed some of the issues that were problems for the Lions.

The Lions have a bye week coming up before traveling to Huntsville for their first district game.  Once again, First Baptist Church of Livingston sponsored the press box provided a smorgasboard of delicious food.

In other sports news, the Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs continued to pulverize their opponents when they destroyed Trinity 58 to 27.  The Bulldogs next game will be in Kountze to face the Kountze Lions and we'll be there to give the Dogs some very necessary coverage.
