Lions Should Have Won This One, ORANGEFIELD, September 7, 2019 - Whatever last week's Livingston Lions were in Shepherd?...they were the opposite of this week. These same Lions who last week won in spectacular last second drama, came out this week against the Orangefield Bobcats were the equivalent of drinking a flat coke. Yes, the Lions were flat, and they just couldn't seem to get it together. This wasn't a blowout. The margin of victory for the Bobcats was just six points. Once again, the game came down to the last minute and this time, the Lions just couldn't get it done. Honestly, it shouldn't have come down to the last minute. The Lions had 2 kickoff returns for TDs called back for penalties. Had just one held up, the Lions probably would've won. The Bobcats on the other hand, weren't spectacular, but they stuck to their apparent game plan of ball control offense, and the Lions couldn't stop the Bobcats' nickel and dime runs. Five yards here, eight yards there, the next thing you know, it's the end of the first half. The Lions come out in the second half and the same thing happens again. Next thing you know, there's just three minutes left in the game and now the Lions are also fighting the clock. I counted three times that the Lions were penalized for too much time. All credit due to the Bobcats. They did what they had to do to win the game and were good sports about it. Come on now, Lions. Let's stop the mental errors and turn the corner to being a better team. You're more than capable of this, and district hasn't even started. Next game is finally at home as the Lions will play host to Liberty at 7 pm in Lions Stadium. -- Willie P. Openshaw, Editor
