Rain fell for nearly the entire game.
Lions Drop Season Opener, NEW CANEY, August 28, 2016 - The Livingston Lions Varsity Football Team headed south on 59 to New Caney to play the Eagles and were reminded that there's lots of kinks and glitches that need to be worked out if they plan on winning some football games.  The Eagles successfully attacked the Lion defense both on the ground and in the air.  By the end of the first half the Eagles were winning 28 to 0.  The Lions did score two offensive touchdowns (Christian Mitchell) and a defensive touchdown when Aaron Stanley grabbed a fumble out of the air and took it in for a score.  The final score was Eagles 48, Lions 20.  The Lions touchdowns were way too little and way too late. Typically I would post a scoring summary giving a rundown of  every score from both teams.  I don't think that's necessary in this case.  In my opinion, this is a game that the Lions should just forget about and get back to practice, ready to work.  Head Coach Brian Broussard and the Lions have lots to work on.  The next game will be in Livingston as the Lions take on Caney Creek in the Lion's Den on Friday night.
