Laid back fun loving guys. (L - R) Company President Curt Walzel, radio personality Outkast Don, Webmaster J.R.
A New Beginning at an Old Radio Station, LIVINGSTON, August 27, 2008 - Radio Station KETX 92.3 is on the threshold of a complete personality (and equipment) make over. Under new ownership, the station is forging ahead making new waves in Polk County in both radio and television. "It's all about our community, the community of Polk County Texas" company president Curt Walzel says. "Without community support and participation, it can never be successful". Walzel is the President of Livingston Telephone, Telcom Supply, and Radio/TV KETX. Everything as far as the mechanical workings are new and state of the art. "We're going to have morning news and weather on television" Walzel says. "In the event of emergencies, we'll be able to do live television feeds to our departments of law enforcement and the Office of Emergency Management". Television will broadcast to Polk County while radio will broadcast to Polk County and surrounding counties. If your television receives transmission by antenna the station is channel 7. From Livingston Telephone cable, it's channel 45. The radio will still broadcast Astros, Texans, Rockets, and High School games.
Speaking of Radio... Starting at 10 am on August 28th, the new format will officially begin. KETX 92.3 The Eagle, Classic Hits. "There's so many country stations in East Texas. What about the folks who like classic hits?" Walzel says. Outkast Don has already been hosting the mornings on KETX and brings a fresh new personality to morning radio. Outkast Don usually has a topic of discussion in the mornings and invites folks to call in with questions, comments, and opinions; all he asks is that you keep it clean. One of Polk County's favorites, Honey, will still host morning metro fair. In addition another radio personality, Rowdy Rodney will do hunting and fishing reports.
Walzel is a Visionary Curt Walzel has a lot of ideas that he's kicking around for television and isn't ruling out anything. Polk County is growing, and with growth comes change, the addition of a lively radio station combined with television and a leader with bold ideas is something that the citizens of Polk County should embrace. "Tune in and listen, this is for and about our community" Walzel says. Fasten your seat-belts and enjoy the ride.
