9 year old Kayla Marie Atkinson stands with her mother and faces a lot of Polk County Peace Officers as she expresses her gratitude for the jobs they do.
Livingston Youngster Shows Local Law Enforcement Appreciation, LIVINGSTON, February 7, 2015 - At 4 pm on February 6, 2015, 9 year old Kayla Marie Atkinson of Livingston held an impromptu ceremony that must've come as a sweet surprise to Polk County Peace Officers.  Atkinson, went out of her way to show appreciation for the often dangerous, and often thankless job that these men have whose job is to protect us citizens.  Kayla took her time to cut heart shapes out of construction paper and write messages on the inside that encourage our local peace officers to keep their heads up, and that they're doing a great job.  When PolkCountyToday.com asked Atkinson what made her do it, she said that she was inspired by a YouTube video entitled "Dear Officer, I See You".  Polk County Sheriff, Ken Hammack was on hand with many of his men, and Livingston Police Chief, Dennis Clifton was also on hand with Officers and Detectives from Livingston Police Department.  There were a surplus of other officers, constables, detectives and game wardens.

Texas Game Warden, David Johnson, proudly displays his heart that Kayla gave him (Constable Ray Meyers also pictured at left).
