Lufkin Man Pulled Over for Speeding, Runs Into Woods (had dope in vehicle), SEVEN OAKS, February 27, 2018 - At approximately 2:45 pm on February 27, 2018, Trooper Brent Henry with the Texas Highway Patrol, spotted a gray 2018 Ford Escape on US-59 North in Leggett. The vehicle, driven by Fredrick Clark, 35, of Lufkin, was driving at 62 mph in a 55. Trooper Henry initiated a traffic stop. Clark pulled (quickly) into the rest stop on the north-bound side of 59 in Seven Oaks. Clark jumped out of his vehicle and ran to Henry's patrol unit displaying his hands and turning around. He told Henry that he had to pee real bad. Trooper Henry escorted Clark into the men's room at the rest area where Clark was able to relieve himself. During this time, Clark gave Henry his name, and age. When they returned to the parking lot of the rest area, Clark decided to run. He bolted into the nearby woodline. Henry gave chase but Clark was able to successfully evade (and left his vehicle locked). Henry summoned a wrecker from Riley Wrecker Service out of Corrigan. The wrecker driver showed up and used his tools to unlock Clark's vehicle. By now, Trooper Henry was joined by narcotics detectives from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Sergeant Glenn Edwards, and Trooper Colton McQuilkin. A vehicle search turned up two bags stuffed with hydrocodone pills. Clark is facing the charge of possession of a controlled substance (felony) and evading arrest. At time of press (6 pm) Clark remains at large. His vehicle was recovered by Riley Wrecker Service and will be stored in Corrigan.
