Hit, Run, Hit, Run, Stop at Wal-Mart, LIVINGSTON, May 23, 2009 - Shortly after 10 am on May 23, 2009 a call came in to the Polk County Sheriff's Office to report a truck that had struck another vehicle on FM-2457 and drove away. Patrol units were dispatched but unable to locate the vehicle that was described as a blue and gray Dodge truck with a tool box. A short time later, another report came in about a blue and gray Dodge truck that had struck another vehicle. This time, the victims followed the truck into the parking lot of the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Livingston. Livingston Police found the truck that matched the description and license plate that was reported earlier. The driver had left her truck and went into Wal-Mart. Officers Rob Atkins, Kevin Blackburn, and Sergeant Lewis Milner patiently and watched the Dodge truck from a distance. At 11:43 am the driver, Paula Salter, 41, of Hull, returned and inspected the front of her truck before she got in. Officers Rob Atkins and Kevin Blackburn moved in to the truck that was illegally parked in a handicap parking space. According to Livingston Police Department, Salter was not intoxicated, but admitted to using her cell phone while driving. Salter did have insurance and was issued a citation and allowed to go.
