Polk County Go Texan Committee Raises Funds for Scholarships, GOODRICH, October 18, 2010 - The Polk County Area go Texan Committee had a gathering on Saturday October 16, 2010 to have a cook off and ride horses and have some friendly calf roping competition. The event was held to help raise money for local student scholarships as riders took their turns roping calves. Five different cook teams had a cook off as they were judged based on flavor and presentation. Of the five teams that competed, the team of Jacob Jones and Richard Gerard won first place for their battered, deep fried shrimp and quessadias. The committee raises thousands of dollars every year for students.

The Winning Dish: Jones and Gerards Battered and Deep Fried Shrimp with Quessadillas took home the title. The shrimp enhanced with their own special sauce (visible in picture).
